Ideas For Puerto Rico: Donate Land To Those Who Want To Grow Food
Earth. Who owns it? I am currently in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, where there is so much unused abandoned land and we have so many young people who want to grow food.
There is About 85 percent of the food that is imported here and the economy is so bad here as everywhere else because we don’t have the access to land.
There are many people who have huge amount of land just sitting there, as I drive around I find so much abandoned land and I hear her calling us.
I have met many young people still in college wanting to build a new world. So why don’t we donate those unused portions of land so that they could grow food and build a small natural home for themselves. In Exchange they could also provide food for the person donating the land and work out the arrangements between each other on how it could work.
We should strive to turn the economy around and find ways to get back connected. To start producing again.
I recently was working on someone’s farm, where we had a similar deal. But the situation was not so ideal as I would prefer to have my own land as we both had a different vision and a difference of opinion.
My vision of what I want to create is to build a forest of food. I practice permaculture and would like to Have many different fruit trees from all over the world. Build an ecological reserve where everything is connected. Symbiotic. Where the birds find solace in all the various different trees. The frogs and dragonflies enjoy the man-made pond as they get rid of the mosquitoes naturally. I share this vision for a sustainable world on this post here.
“Treat the earth well: it was not given to you by your parents, it was loaned to you by your children. We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors, we borrow it from our Children.”
We can grow an abundance of food in all these places. Build a new world. Build a sustainable community. Be innovative, but natural. Build a earthen home, or a home made from bamboo on a tree. You give me land to grow food and to build a small ecological home. It’s all I need.
So to all those people who seek a new world and know some one with acres of land. Offer to grow something for you and them, maybe they can throw a tree you can live on. But just having a place to grow is the start we need to start progressing. Producing for ourselves. Don’t exploit the land, give back to the earth what we take from this beautiful world.
The question remains as to who truly owns the earth, we let greed and ego dictate things. We have the youth who can’t afford land so they struggle with these jobs to keep paying off the massive piling debt. It’s a cycle. Land shouldn’t be a commodity and we should not be either because that is what we have become. Every one should have an equal right to land and right to create their own shelter. Not to live a slave life of debt.
What a wonderful world this world could truly be, If we only knew our true potential. If we just realize that life can be so much more. The earth provides for all. All this land just being used to have this beautiful grass to mow down.
In Spain, in the Spanish revolution in 1936, they started sharing the land. Started producing, shared the tools. Now we have progressed a long way, but it seems we regressed to the fundamentals of freedom. Therefore We could learn from what has failed and start to experiment and must build this new world together and it’s time that we look for other ways to achieve that to go beyond what is. Watch this wonderful documentary on the Spanish revolution entitled living utopia.
So maybe we should squat or occupy land. Have a group of like minded individuals who would like to build a self sustaining community and create and help together.
What if we took some unused land for the community. Donate land to be used as a community garden which is what is needed in many places here.
But we have to take action and not let it go to waste. Start teaching our children how to grow, how to respect life. To connect back to land so that they could learn to respect once again. Ideas is what we need more of to progress in the world as ideas have more value than money, which I wrote about here.
So if you would like to donate a small chunk of land to the revolution. I would be more than happy to take it. Beats taking it through squatting.
Do you think land should be shared?
Well leave your comments down below on what you think about all the unused land. Add on to the ideas. Make it your own. Peace.
