Home, I have been living in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico for the past 8 years, by way of Brooklyn, NY. Click here to read why I moved to Puerto Rico. For the last 5 years, I have dedicated my time to taking care of the beautiful beaches and rivers as I decided to be the guardian of the beaches and rivers. (Click to read why.) I would walk around with signs to raise awareness to all the litter people leave behind. Also, I would clean the beaches and rivers as I went along my mission. Here you can read about the one trash bag challenge But now it is time for me to depart this paradise and in this post I will write why I decided to leave this paradise to travel the world with little money.
Recently, I was shot in the face for recording a family leaving their garbage at a beautiful beach that I took care of mostly everyday. You can click here to read about that. I was very fortunate that the bullet just grazed within centimeters of my cheekbone.
When I heard that gun go off and the blood pouring out of my face, I thought I was dead. Feeling death come within inches and within milliseconds, made me realize that it was time for me to stop doing what I did and start living my life more. Captain planet has to retire.
What I did was not an easy task. I tried to inspire others to make the change this island and ultimately, our beautiful world that we share needs. I chose to become an Earth Warrior. Click here to read what it means to be an earth warrior. I could not stand idly by and not say anything or do nothing. I took action and did something about it. Which I want the people to start doing.
During that time, I have definitely grown more as a human. I feel that I found myself in Puerto Rico. I quit drinking alcohol (Click here to read about that.) , became vegan and started to uncover the layers of conformity in which I have conformed to. Here you can read about me going from the concrete jungle to becoming radically wild. I grew this deep connection to nature, whereas before I was completely disconnected. In essence, I believe that most of humanity has lost connection to nature and as I always say, with losing that connection to nature, we also have lost connection to ourselves.
I love Puerto Rico
Indeed I love this beautiful island. It is a true paradise and think everyone should come explore it’s enchantments. However after all the things I have dealt with on this island, from being threatened last year for speaking out about garbage, to being shot, to having my tires slashed at the beach. I decided it was best for me to go elsewhere and live in some other country in our world because I need to find my peace and heal and grow more after the shooting I found that I have a mild case of PTSD.
I dedicated all my time to defending the beaches and rivers from garbage with my signs. Now since I won’t be doing that anymore, I wanted to work on cultivating a food. Focus on my other mission of wanting to create a food forest sanctuary as to leave something behind for the next generations. Continue to work with mother earth in a different capacity. I have been looking for affordable land to create my vision, but I can’t find none(Here you can read about my vision.)
My plan was to leave on August as I will be without a home and wanted to just travel from place to place living in the jungles of South America, but I feel like there is so much left for me to do here, to continue to try to inspire change. I decided to stay for a month or two longer. I decided that I will live in the river forest here instead as I plan on camping at various spots throughout the island while exploring it. I can’t leave Puerto Rico without exploring . Who knows maybe I can stay living in a remote spot as I want to live in a forest on top of a tree on a bamboo house.
The world is my home
If I can’t achieve my vision here then I will focus on creating my vision elsewhere and to travel the world with the little money that I have, barefoot and all. Here you can read why I live barefoot. It is time to explore the rest of our beautiful home and continue to further explore my mind and the self. Time for a new home. I plan on growing a tree in every country I visit.
For now I don’t know where I will be going. . One thing is for sure, I will be going to a country with a lot of nature and tropical climate. Essentially I will be homeless as I will be spending most of my nights in a tent, but since I consider myself a citizen of the world, the world will become my home!
Right now, I have a list of countries to visit. Perhaps I might start out in central America. Ideally I would to to make it to New Zealand, If I could make it to Thailand, Indonesia, that would also be great. As of right now, it is all about finding the cheapest airplane ticket out. The flight tickets to Asia is a bit over my budget.
Hard to travel with no money
Many people say it will be hard to travel with little money, but I live a simple minimal life and I feel that I am a very resilient creature that could adapt. I look forward to find ways to make it work out. I look forward to the adventures that await and look forward to continue to grow. Living this way is the journey and the path that I chose. I look to continue to grow and to fly as I will flap my wings to freedom.
I also look forward to wwoofing, which is working on farms all over the world, in exchange for food and shelter and also plan on couch surfing. Hopefully I am able to find a permanent home in the world where captain planet can retire in peace in the abundance of life.
Ultimately, I am hoping I could be able to find a piece of land on this beautiful island before I leave. However, I feel my time is up. It’s time to flap my wings. If you like to donate to help me out raise tickets to head to Asia. I would greatly appreciate any help. I am sure I will figure out ways to get by.
Thanks to all those who have supported what I have been doing. I look to continue inspiring others and continue to raise awareness through this website. I will document my journey. Please subscribe to my monthly newsletter below to be up to date .
